2020 has been a year of chaos in almost every aspect of our lives. The closing of tracks in Florida and other states is leaving just a handful of tracks open across the country.
The COVID-19 social distancing restrictions have made our adoption process extremely difficult. For many months, we had not been able to make the required home visits and our placements had been severely hampered at a time when they have been most needed. At this point in time we have at least 75 applicants who have not yet had home visits and the number of dogs coming in is dwindling. Sadly we have decided to temporarily stop taking new applications as of today, November 9.
Any applicants who have had home visits and have been approved will be considered for placement of incoming dogs while we work to make home visits to those still on our list. As always, we will concentrate on matching the pups to the best home situations: fenced yards, hours alone, children, other pets and previous Greyhound experience. Our first priority is, and has always been, to find the very best homes possible for our retiring Greyhounds.
